Introducing Australia's Newest Luxury Hotel

After an all-encompassing redevelopment programme spanning four months from August to December 2014, The Langham, Sydney is officially introduced as Australia’s newest and most exclusive luxury hotel.

Enjoying a pre-eminent address in the city, the hotel is positioning itself amongst the best in the world.  All 98 guestrooms and suites are elegantly styled and embody understated elegance.  From the splendid Grand Langham room – the largest standard room in Sydney at 49 square meters or 527 square feet – to the two-bedroom Residence Suite (110 square meters / 1,184 square feet) with a private chef’s kitchenette, to the opulence of The Observatory Suite (122 square meter / 1,313 square feet,) every room features impeccable design, quality finishes and meticulous attention to detail.

“We are thrilled with the remarkable transformation of this hotel which is a magnificent addition to our group’s international portfolio,” says Sonia Lefevre, general manager of The Langham, Sydney. “This hotel’s prime location in the heart of the Sydney Rocks district combined with The Langham’s renowned service will produce memorable stays for all our corporate and leisure guests.”

Upon entering the newly renovated Langham Sydney, guests will be greeted with a fresh space that complements the historical setting of The Rocks district. Positioned next to the famed Observatory Hill, guests may take a short stroll to the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.  Taking full advantage of the ample natural light from the glass atrium on the third level, the lobby features a dramatic ceiling to floor glass entry with white Calacatta marble and an Art Deco-inspired design motif. This dramatic lobby leads through to a central reception desk made of gold leaf crackled porcelain, complete with newly revealed harbour views.

The social hub of The Langham, Sydney is at Palm Court which is adorned in shades of teal and citrus gold. The lounge is bathed in natural light from windows flanked by white plantation shutters looking across colonial rooftops through to Sydney’s Western Harbour. Renowned as the birthplace of the traditional Afternoon Tea experience from its namesake at The Langham, London 150 years ago, Palm Court offers Sydneysiders the Afternoon Tea with Wedgwood experience based on the exclusive partnership of two iconic brands. By evening, Palm Court provides a sophisticated backdrop for the signature Langham cocktail expertly prepared at the bar.

The other exciting dining offering includes Kent Street Kitchen which features a modern European-inspired menu and dining concept that blends old world techniques with new world sophistications. Headed by Chef de Cuisine Daniel Rudolph (formerly of est.), Kent Street Kitchen delivers a contemporary fine-dining experience by creating innovative cuisine using premium local produce, executed with elegance and technical precision. A notable jazz inspired soundtrack completes this sensory dining experience.  The 100-seat restaurant is accentuated with tasteful touches including rich oak flooring, walnut and leather chairs, customized lighting, freestanding wine libraries and an elegant white marble Chef’s Table, positioned in the middle of the restaurant’s open kitchen.

An array of celebrated Australian artworks curated exclusively by Sotheby’s for The Langham, Sydney features throughout the hotel. Notable artists include Sidney Nolan, Andrew Browne, Albert Tucker and Brett Whitley with two dramatic resin pieces by Asher Bilu in the Grand Lobby – all of which were recently in the artists’ home until they were selected for this exclusive collection.

For leisure guests, the popular Day Spa features facials, massages and body treatments based upon TCM principles, as well as advanced skin care treatments from German beauty pioneers BABOR, local organic experts iKOU and treatment partner Aromatherapy Associates. Complementing the spa is a fully-equipped Health Club, jacuzzi and a steam room. The Langham, Sydney’s renowned 20-meter indoor pool, complete with pale stone columns and a star-dappled sky ceiling completes the oasis of health and rejuvenation.

As the perfect setting for high society weddings, special social events and luxury product launches, The Langham, Sydney provides 400 square meters (4,305 square feet) of flexible space, including a beautifully-outfitted 241-square meter (2,594 square-foot) Grand Ballroom, complete with natural light and large windows looking onto Kent Street.
