THE LANGHAM, CHICAGO CELEBRATES 150 YEARS OF BRITISH STYLE

(CHICAGO, IL)Pavilion (330 N. Wabash Ave.), located on the second floor of The Langham, Chicago, invites guests to join the British hotel brand in celebrating its 150th anniversary on June 10, 2015. To commemorate this date, the luxury property is offering guests the opportunity to embrace the hotel’s classic heritage of afternoon tea with the 1865 Anniversary Tea package. Available for $150 per person, the month-long package includes a glass of Perrier Jouet, caviar sandwiches, a gifted canister of Palm Court Exotic or Langham Blend teas, and The Royal Ascot Tea, a celebratory-themed lavish tea service featuring a sumptuous menu created by Executive Chef Anthony Zamora and Pastry Chef Scott Green.

 

The 1865 Anniversary Tea package complements the decadent dishes of The Royal Ascot Tea service but guests can choose to revel in royalty with just The Royal Ascot Tea.  Reservations for an independent Royal Ascot Tea service can be made throughout the month of June at a cost of $60 per person. Guests are provided with a complimentary glass of prosecco while noshing on  sweet and savory menu items such as: Fairly Tail Eggplants, with cucumber, romesco, marcona almonds; Compressed Watermelon, with Greek feta cheese, speck ham, arugula; Summer Corn Pudding, with smoked Swiss cheese, peekytoe crab salad, watercress; and Roasted Chicken Salad, with parmesan, zucchini, celery hearts, Dijon mustard. Cornmeal or Blueberry Scones served with seasonal preserves and Devonshire cream are included, along with desserts featuring: Poached Peach Verrine, with oat crumble, yogurt cream, candied tarragon; Grandmas’ Chocolate Cake, with dark chocolate ganache; Strawberry Shortcake, with angel food sponge, macerated strawberries, micro basil; and Cherry-Lemon Macaron, with lemon ganache, cherry compote. 

The Langham’s exclusive global partnership with Wedgwood allows the property the opportunity to offer guests tailor-made, specialty teas during its Afternoon Tea service. Teas presented in each month-long special are some of the rarest blends and are kept in The Langham Tea Vaults under lock and key. The Langham Tea Sommeliers are trained and certified by the Wedgwood tea academy, linking two iconic, luxury heritage brands.
