ART-INSPIRED DINNER WITH EXCLUSIVE HOTEL ART TOUR

Join us for a unique experience inspired by our rich history and love for art and design.
The Langham, Chicago takes you on a tour of its fine art collection within the last office building designed by famous architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, known for developing the modern skyscraper.

The event commences with a drink from Travelle's art-inspired cocktail menu that fuses artwork details with compelling ingredients to create visual and delicious masterpieces.

For the next portion of the evening, The Langham, Chicago's Chef Concierge Philippe Gills tours the hotel, highlighting 10 works of art including Ju Ming’s “The Gentlemen,” Virginio Ferrari’s “Ombre Della Sera,” Carolyn Ottmers’ “Silver Pinecone,” Jaume Plensa’s “Anna,” as well as pieces from Peter Halley and Monique Prieto.

A variety of narratives will be explored since each piece on the tour was selected based on principles that interlock the past, present, and future characteristics of the hotel. For example, Bauhaus-style art – which originated in Germany with a unique approach to art, design and architecture – connects to Mies van der Rohe, as he was the final Director of Bauhaus School in Germany. Several of the artists highlighted have a relationship with Chicago. Some of the artwork pays tribute to the city, and specific works were commissioned for the hotel.

The creative evening concludes with Chef Jeff Vucko's art-inspired three-course dinner starting with Kampachi Crudo with Yuzu Kosho Beet Granita, Cucumber, Avocado, and Hyssop, followed by Beef Striploin with A-1 Powder, Hon Shemiji, Broccolini Florets, Nasturtium, and Bordelaise. For dessert, guests enjoy Frutti Di Bosco with Poached Wine Cherries, Amaretto Zabaglione, paired with Forest Fruit Sorbet. Each meal course is paired with art-inspired cocktails such as "A Sunday at La Grande Jatte" by Georges Seurat, "Ciphers and Constellations in Love with a Woman" by Joan Miro and "Spanish Physician" by Marx Ernst.
