Iconic luxury brand unveils stylish new rooms and suites, a new and elegant Palm Court and brings “The World’s Best Bar” to Hong Kong
(Hong Kong, 4 September 2014) – Completion of a USD30 million, three-month extensive facelift, heralds a new era of luxury for The Langham, Hong Kong.
“This major initiative repositions The Langham, Hong Kong at the top end of the city’s leading luxury hotels,” said the hotel’s Managing Director, Bob van den Oord. “New facilities and amenities enhance our brand as the luxury hotel of choice in vibrant Tsim Sha Tsui, for discerning guests looking for supreme comfort and convenience. We will continue to elevate our overall guest experience by assigning a Guest Experience Manager to every room and maintain our Shopping Butler Service to ensure a luxury bespoke Hong Kong shopping experience for our shopping guests.”
London-based interior and architectural design firm, G.A Design, has been commissioned to create a world-class transformation with an emphasis on elegant residential experiences with luxury detailing.
The renovation extends to 230 rooms and suites. The two Signature Suites which are a part of The Langham’s grand facelift, including the Penthouse Suite and the Director Suite, both feature distinctive living spaces with playful character pieces and lofty views of Canton Road.
The Penthouse Suite (125 square metres) recalls the fashion houses in Europe, featuring cream, silver and white, plus diamond-cut mirror paneling, silk wall panels and pale marble. The Director Suite (89m2) features black, silver, white, grey and sepia with jewel accents, polished veneer and is finished with high gloss, nickle, Lucite and glass. It also shows playful character pieces alongside deep sofas for lying back and enjoying a film on the oversized screen. Photographic art from film shoots give the final touch in an extensive library of films and film memorabilia. A key feature in both Signature Suites is the oversized bath in the luxurious bathroom and spacious living room for guests to relax and revitalise.
The Langham Suite (55 square metres) offers a luxurious guest experience in a larger space, incorporating a lounge area and bedroom suite with an exceptional bathing area and dressing space. The colour palette features a light turquoise blue with hints of bronze, complemented by lush rugs on rich-toned timber floors.
The new Grand Langham Room (34 square metres) features a light, refined scheme with a palette of soft greys, golds and beige that infuses subtle references to 1920’s glamour. Framed in finishes of dark, stained Walnut and polished nickel, the Faux Fireplace is the sophisticated focal point of the room amidst other beautiful features of chic white marble bathroom, thoughtfully crafted work desk and mini-bar cabinet and a chaise longue style sweeping sofa by the window bay. The luxury finishes and meticulous detailing set the ambience of a refreshing haven, providing a moment of calm for guests to retreat to and from the frenetic city.
“Our aim for the room renovation is to have a design referencing the Langham luxury brand elements, yet relevant to the character and culture of the city in which the hotel is located,” says Su Ball, Executive Director of G.A Design.
Guest services set a new five-star benchmark with dedicated Guest Experience Managers “assisting with the guests’ every whim”, from unpacking suitcases and colour-coding clothes in wardrobes, to personalising pillows and room temperature, and organising sightseeing outings.
Headlining the new look for the luxury hotel in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui is Palm Court, a lounge glamorously restyled after its namesake at The Langham, London where traditional British afternoon tea was first served in the hotel almost 150 years ago.
This fresh and elegant space serves as a dramatic backdrop to the lobby, featuring natural stone flooring and painted timber columns that showcase a traditional yet luxurious finish.
As a tribute to its heritage as the birthplace of traditional English afternoon tea, Palm Court will reopen with the launch of the bespoke version of the tradition – “The Langham Afternoon Tea with Wedgwood” – serving Wedgwood specialty teas in tailor-made “Langham Rose” Wedgwood Chinaware with a special menu by new Executive Pastry Chef Reinhard Lackner.
Hailing from London and making its debut at The Langham, Hong Kong is Artesian. Voted “The World's Best Bar” for two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013 by Drinks International, Artesian will be a glamorous cocktail bar that features interiors that combine a nostalgic romance of Art Deco details with alluring contemporary touches. Featuring Bourbon creations at its best, guests at Artesian can expect the finest classic cocktails masterfully crafted with house-made infusions, shaken and stirred by the fashionable bar crew, and led by Bar Manager, Rajendra “Rush” Limbu, who hails from restaurants such as Otto e Mezzo, Il Milione and Ping Pong.
