Bob van den Oord is announced as Managing Director

24th November 2015 – The Langham, London is delighted to announce the appointment of Bob van den Oord as Managing Director. Mr van den Oord joins The Langham, London from Hong Kong where he was based as Managing Director and VP Brands (Global) for Langham Hospitality Group.

Following on from The Langham, London’s milestone 150th anniversary year, which saw the launch of the Regent Wing, Langham Club Lounge and six-bedroom Sterling Suite, Mr van den Oord will lead the team in strategically consolidating the hotel’s elevated position in the luxury 5-star hotel segment.

As commented by Mr van den Oord: ‘I am extremely excited to be joining The Langham, London at this juncture. From the very start of my career, it was an ambition of mine to one day be based at The Langham and now that dream has been realised. I am greatly looking forward to the next phase of the hotel’s development and being at the helm of such a dynamic team’.

Dutch-born, Mr. van den Oord has enjoyed an exceptional track record in senior hotel management positions for luxury hotels in various regions. Prior to his current role, van den Oord held a dual position of MD at The Langham, Hong Kong and VP Brands (Global) for Langham Hospitality Group.

Mr. van den Oord is a senior-level executive in the hospitality industry with more than 20 years of experience building and driving profit-generating initiatives for hospitality brands on three continents (North America, Europe and Asia). Under his leadership, The Langham, Hong Kong was named a five star hotel by Forbes’ Travel Guide in its 2015 star rating after an extensive multi-million dollar refurbishment programme and the signature Chinese restaurant T’ang Court attained three Michelin stars in November 2015.

He began his career with Langham Hospitality Group in 1999 as Resident Manager with the Le Meridien Boston before joining Eaton Hotel in Hong Kong as a Managing Director/General Manager. From 2008 to 2011, van den Oord advanced to become Vice President of Sales & Marketing and served as core member of Langham Group’s executive committee in a strategic-level organisational role.
