Christmas High Tea

November 2018... On weekdays until Christmas Eve, The Langham, Melbourne’s renowned Aria Bar & Lounge will be presenting a festive Christmas with Wedgwood high tea. It’s arguably the perfect occasion to see those that insist “we catch up before Christmas.”

A morning tea or afternoon tea avoids the crowds at lunch, dinner and drinks and offers a relaxed, luxurious and sophisticated slice of the day in which to enjoy a truly decadent selection of savoury
dishes and sweet treats.

Guests may choose to commence with pinwheel sandwiches filled with festive honey-glazed ham, spiced mango relish, compressed apple and toasted macadamias, classic smoked turkey with mapleglazed bacon, provolone cheese and butter pickle on sourdough walnut bread, shrimp roll with avocado mousse, Yarra Valley salmon roe, finger lime pearls and Marie Rose sauce on dark mini rye bread, Tasmanian smoked salmon tartare, calamansi curd, poached quandong on beetroot and Nigella seed bagel and a citrus cream cheese, mint and compressed cucumber triple decker sandwich.

While it may be traditional to start with savoury dishes, there is no reason why guests can’t kick off with a pink macaron with Christmas spiced vanilla bean  cream and glazed fruit centre or split a gingerbread spice scone in two and top with strawberry and rose petal jam and fresh clotted cream.

Even the most Grinch-like could be lured into the festive spirit with one of Executive Chef, Deepak Mishra’s cranberry and maple scones or gingerbread and candied orange tarts with Gianduja chocolate Chantilly cream.

Plus, there are two warm savoury dishes including a ham hock and baby pea croquette with pesto and smoked chipotle aioli and forest mushroom and gruyere cheese pie with truffled potato cream.

Traditional buttermilk scones, Chestnut and dark chocolate éclairs with salted caramel crunchies and whipped cranberry cremeaux with single origin white chocolate zabaglione and hazelnut cream, round out Chef Deepak’s selection of festive dishes.

Wedgwood loose leaf tea or espresso-based coffee will be served in Langham’s signature Langham Rose Wedgwood fine bone china.

A glass of sparkling wine or tropical mocktail is included in the price of $59.00 per person. Christmas with Wedgwood is also available with free-flowing sparkling wine or replenished sweet and savoury dishes $73.00 per person or accompanied by a glass of Perrier-Jouet Champagne for $83.00.

For those wishing to truly get into the festive spirit, they may like to order a Rudolph’s Elixir for $19.00.

The bright red concoction is made with premium vodka, fresh grapefruit juice, Chambord, fresh raspberry puree with cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and rosemary, egg white, mint leaves and is garnished with a frozen sprig of rosemary plus a few secret ingredients.
