March 2015, …Move over macarons. Cupcakes? You’ve been cut. The donut is now taking centre-stage status.
Inspired by Justin Gellatly’s donut making class at The Langham, Melbourne Masterclass during the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, The Langham, Melbourne is showcasing donuts at the hotel’s Sugar & Spice High Teas from Monday 30 March until Friday 10 April.
Taking inspiration from Gellatly’s custard-injected creation, the pastry team at The Langham, Melbourne has been taste-testing drool-inducing combinations.
The final menu features no less than five variations of donuts including Persian Love Cake, mini roasted apple churros with salty caramel, strawberry crumble, blueberry cheesecake and the flavour-packed crushed Oreo donut injected with Nutella.
For High Tea traditionalists, there are also scones with fruit jam and clotted cream and a selection of sandwiches such as smoked salmon pinwheels, cucumber and watercress, egg mayonnaise, cream cheese and chives and poached free range chicken.
The Sugar & Spice High Tea will take place at Aria Bar & Lounge and is available Monday- Friday from 10.30am- 4.30pm from Monday 30 March until Friday 10 April for $59.00 per person.
