CONNECT Conferences offers meeting and event planners environmentally conscious alternatives along with The Langham’s everyday commitment to sustainability
April 3, 2019, New York, NY – The Langham, New York, Fifth Avenue celebrates Earth Month with green meeting and event initiatives that bloom all year long. As a leader in sustainability, with EarthCheck Silver Certification, The Langham not only focuses on being green from within, but also on educating attendees at meetings and events held at The Langham to be more environmentally conscious through a variety of offerings, as part of the hotel’s CONNECT Conferences program.
CONNECT Conferences is a brand-wide program from The Langham Hotels & Resorts which offers planners the option of selecting sustainable solutions to offset the environmental impact of any meeting or event held at The Langham. Some of the CONNECT Conferences offerings available to meeting planners at The Langham, New York include:
- The choice to use locally-grown, organic and ethically farmed ingredients for inclusion in banquet menus
- An online Event Carbon Footprint Calculator to measure the environmental cost of that particular event
- House-bottled, triple-filtered water in re-usable bottles for all meetings and events, in place of individual glass or plastic disposable water bottles
- Integration of green lighting solutions from SoLight, a line of distinctively designed solar lighting that combines the power of the sun with innovative design aesthetics
- The option of donating flowers from each event to a local hospital after the event is completed
The Langham, New York’s catering and culinary team are committed to a better tomorrow through their daily activities on behalf of our guests. The Langham invest in an ORCA machine that recycles 250 pounds of food scraps per day to be recycled as liquid that can safely pass through drains rather than being thrown away. Executive Chef Romeo Stivaletti has ensured that 80% of the seafood served on the hotel’s banquets and Private Kitchen (in-room dining) menus are sustainably- and ethically-sourced. Even the hotel’s house Champagne, Laurent Perrier, was chosen with sustainability in mind. Laurent Perrier practices sustainable wine-growing, reusing water as much as possible at their water treatment facility; re-using bottles for years at a time; and ensuring that all of their products are vegan, with no animal products used at any time in the winemaking process.
The Langham, New York, Fifth Avenue is centrally located at 400 Fifth Avenue, between 36th & 37th Streets. Its 234 guest rooms and suites are some of the largest in the city.
