Langham Hotels International’s (LHI) luxurious wellness brand, Chuan Spa, is supporting Earth Hour 2009, with all its spas around the world offering a special one hour signature massage by candlelight between 8:30pm – 9:30pm on Saturday, 28 March 2009 (Earth Hour).

The global initiative is a natural extension for Chuan Spa, whose values emphasise harmony and balance, closely linking it to nature and the earth. In Chinese, the word Chuan means a serene coursing of water, which is seen to be the source of life and balance in Chinese culture. Chuan’s values, which are founded on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Yin & Yang, the Meridian System (Jing Luo) and the Five Elements (Wu Xing – wood, earth, metal, fire and water), also place a strong emphasis on rediscovering the source, respecting the elements and caring for the planet.

Using environmentally friendly, natural soy candles to illuminate the treatment rooms in the spa, guests can enjoy a slice of luxury while still being environmentally conscious.

The Earth Hour candlelit massage will provide guests with a unique mind, body and soul experience designed to stimulate meridian harmony. Combining the therapeutic elements of acupressure with various relaxation massage techniques, the luxurious and relaxing massage will induce a deep sense of calm. The Earth Hour signature candlelit massage will be available at Chuan Spa in Melbourne (Australia), Mongkok (Hongkong) and Boston (USA). Chuan Spa, Melbourne, Chuan Spa, Mongkok and Chuan Spa, Boston will donate 10 per cent of all proceeds to the World Wildlife Fund.
