Influencer Insight: Where couples with a sweet tooth should go this valentine's day
Influencer Insight is a segment where we speak with a local Boston influencer who is an expert on a certain topic—this month we caught up with @bostonfoodgram on where couples with a sweet tooth should go this Valentine’s Day.
Emily Chan, also known as @bostonfoodgram on Instagram, shares vibrant snaps of food, drinks, and her life in Boston on social media. In addition to exploring the latest and greatest dining options in the city and documenting her experiences for the Boston Foodgram, she is also a dental student at Boston University School of Dental Medicine. So as a future dentist, we trust her judgement on when to splurge on something sweet, but we also listen to her well-informed recommendation to brush our teeth afterwards!
Here are her top five dessert spots for Valentine’s Day (in no particular order, they are all just as sweet!):
Zinneken’s is an authentic Belgian waffle shop in Harvard Square with a traveling food truck. Their waffles have a perfectly crispy shell with a soft and fluffy interior. Additionally, there are many topping choices. My favorite is the Oreo Freakin’ Party (oreos, raspberries, whipped cream)!
Jonquils Café & Bakery
A new café on Newbury Street, Jonquils offers lots of beautiful desserts made with 3D-printed silicon molds. The desserts are shaped in the form of everything from apples to cherries to artichokes to almost any other geometric shape you can think of. And they get even better once you break through the outer shell, revealing distinct layers of cake, mousse, jelly, and more.
With locations in both the Back Bay and Harvard Square, L.A. Burdick is an essential stop this Valentine’s Day. An establishment known for their European-inspired handcrafted chocolates, L.A. Burdick has a large variety of chocolates, cakes, pastries, bonbons, and hot chocolate. Perfect for an afternoon date or a post dinner treat, be sure to add L.A. Burdick to your list for the 14th!
Conveniently located inside Quincy Market, Magnolia Bakery is known for their famous banana pudding and cupcakes. But they also offer lots of other delicious cakes, pies, cheesecake, cookies, and more. If you’ll be dining in the North End or Downtown be sure to make a pit stop to grab a cup of banana pudding, a cupcake or another dessert to share!
Benedetto is a rustic Italian restaurant inside the Charles Hotel in Harvard Square that serves intricate desserts carefully crafted by Pastry Chef Renae Connolly. Every dessert on the menu is a not only a work of art, but is also packed with flavor. Trust me these are worth the calories!
We know that something sweet can be the perfect indulgence this time of year, so take a page out of Emily’s book and be sure to visit one of her recommended spots this Valentine’s Day to treat your honey with some sugar!
