Sneak Peek: The Lincoln Ballroom Skylight

Happy February everyone! As we mentioned last month, our renovation encompasses the entire hotel from top to bottom; everything is being overhauled. This Fall we will be re-launching the hotel with brand new guest rooms, new ballrooms and a whole new look as a reimagined American classic in the heart of Boston.

There is a lot going on here at the hotel, our team is working very hard to make this transformation happen. And we are excited to share a sneak peek of the inner workings of the renovation. Check it out below!

Believe it or not, that is our new Lincoln Ballroom!  We are thrilled that this major transformation allows us this additional ballroom that can accommodate up to 200 guests. And we are proud to say that the space will even have a huge skylight right in the center of the room. And that’s what you see the Shawmut Design and Construction team working on in the timelapse, that amazing skylight is being installed as we speak. “The ‘skylight’ weighs more than 13 tons and is designed to support people walking on it while filling the ballroom below with natural light. The design team worked closely with structural engineers and the installer, Salem Glass, to create the custom piece. The skylight includes an integrated blackout shade system for events that require a darker setting for a state-of-the-art audio-visual system.” Says Brent D. Zeigler, AIA, IIDA, President | Principal, Dyer Brown.

The new ballroom will be suited to host many different types of events. We can’t wait to host weddings, galas, conferences and all other celebrations for many years to come. Have you seen the rendering of what the space will look like? Here it is, take a look!

The Langham Hotels and Resorts brand loves to celebrate the everyday and our Lincoln Ballroom will be just the place to do that. Are you planning a wedding, holiday party or another big event? Did you know that we are taking bookings for events planned for November 2020 onwards in our new spaces already? Contact for more information.

We are so excited to share this sneak peek with you all. We are proud of our transformation as we bring this beautiful, historic property into 2020 with a bang.
