What's Happening in the Neighborhood
Fall is here! While we’re always sad when summer flies by, we are excited for the crisp air, the colorful foliage and pumpkin spice! Lots of exciting revitalization has been going on in our neighborhood, so we put together a full update on what is happening here in Post Office Square, situated in the heart of Boston.
First things first, we are so happy to say that construction is full steam ahead. The crew from Shawmut Design and Construction is working diligently to create our future look as we begin a new era with stylistic features, refined elegance and unique experiences that have been redefined into this new American classic. And most of all, we can’t wait to share what we have in store for our guests at The Langham, Boston. We are optimistic that after all the difficulties our community has faced this year, 2021 will be a year to truly celebrate the everyday and we can’t wait to inspire our guests to celebrate life.
Second, we are also excited for our neighbors at One Post Office Square, as they are just as much a part of the neighborhood’s re-imagination. Their project is creating yet another shining example of what the future of Downtown Boston is all about with their focus on innovation and sustainability. We are so happy to be sharing our corner of the city with such a neighbor and it is exciting to see their project progressing alongside ours.

Third, as we get closer and closer to our reopening date, we are now able to share some more sneak peeks into the interior of the hotel. This week let’s talk marble! Our renovation project has brought in approximately 200 tons of Italian marble; that’s 400,000 pounds of marble that has traveled all the way from quarries in Italy to right here at The Langham, Boston.
Because we wanted to truly reimagine the hotel to look toward the future of Boston, we brought in top notch Italian marble and stone finishes that you will find throughout the hotel. And because we wanted only the best, we sent our team to the Santucci Quarry in Carrara, Italy where they were able to hand select the precise stone that will reside in our guest bathrooms. And here is a little peek at what they experienced in Italy. (This was of course all pre-pandemic.)
