The Langham, Boston Introduces The Fed, A Whimsical New Cocktail Pub

Evocative of a 1920s-era cocktail lounge, The Fed’s culinary and cocktail operations will be helmed by local Bostonians Rebekah Jackson and Paige McGroarty.

The Langham, Boston is pleased to announce the opening of its new destination cocktail pub, The Fed, slated to debut this June, timed with the highly-anticipated reopening of the newly transformed hotel. The new bar, whose announcement comes off the heels of the unveiling of The Langham, Boston’s new convivial restaurant GRANA, will be helmed by general manager Rebekah Jackson and assistant food & beverage manager, Paige McGroarty.

With dark timber floors overlayed with hand-tufted rugs, and shelves brimming with local history and banking books, The Fed will be reminiscent of a 1920s era private cocktail lounge, harkening back to the time period of the iconic building’s inception as the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. The new destination bar will share design parallels to its sister bar, The Langham, London’s celebrated cocktail pub The Wigmore, and both spaces were designed by the acclaimed Richmond Design Group. Home to around 75 pieces of carefully curated artwork including 28 specially commissioned works, The Fed will evoke the feeling of a warm embrace to patrons, while paying homage to the building’s banking history and local heritage. The perfect mix between the classic cocktail bar and the relaxed European tavern, The Fed will offer intimate indoor seating as well as a bustling sidewalk terrace perfect for the warmer months.

In her role as Assistant Food & Beverage Manager, McGroarty will be responsible for overseeing the creation of The Fed’s signature cocktails and selection of local craft draft beers, as well as daily operations. Part of the Boston area’s cocktail scene since 2014, McGroarty comes to The Fed following her role as Lead Bartender at Boston’s storied supper club Yvonne’s, after previous experience at Pearl & Lime as Opening Bartender and Alchemy Bistro & Bar as Principle Bartender.

As General Manager of Restaurants & Bar, Rebekah Jackson will oversee restaurant operations across the hotel, including dining at GRANA and bar fare at The Fed. Jackson joins the team following nearly two years at the Boston Harbor Hotel, where she served as the Restaurant General Manager for its Meritage Restaurant and Wine Bar. Prior to her role at the Boston Harbor Hotel, she was Restaurant Manager at L’Espalier in Boston.

“Both Paige and Rebekah bring strong enthusiasm, expertise and a warming presence to their roles, fitting our overall ethos,” said Kyung Lee, director of food & beverage at The Langham, Boston. “We already find them both to be assets to our team and know their skills will be reflected in The Fed guest experience.”

Alongside hand-crafted signature cocktails and perfect pints, patrons will have the opportunity to indulge in classic bar snacks, shareable dishes, seafood towers, and locally inspired dishes, making it the ideal locale for after work cocktails, small group gatherings and casual celebrations. The Fed will serve a selection of proprietary offerings from Cambridge Brewing Company Beer, Bully Boy Gin, and Knob Creek Bourbon. Additionally, the bar’s Vault will feature a locked-up collection of 12 unique and hard-to-find spirits, including Rabbit Hole Founders Collection Mizunara and The Macallan M.

“The Fed is positioned to be an iconic destination bar unlike any this city has seen,” said Michele Grosso, managing director of The Langham, Boston. “Sophisticated yet playful, it will offer an inviting ambiance, inspired cocktail menu and shareable dishes, and we anticipate a lively mix of neighborhood residents, local tastemakers and hotel guests will gather each afternoon, and into the night.”

The Fed will be open daily from 3pm. For more information, please visit https://www.langhamhotels.com/en/the-langham/boston/dining/.
