Stay And Do Good

We invite you to Stay and Do Good as this year, The Langham, London tries to give back to those in our community. Drawing on five themes including Future, Empowerment, Care, Together and Heal we have selected two charities in each category and we hope you find a connection with one, strong enough for you to stay and do good as we will donate £25 per room per stay or £100 per suite per stay to those in need for each booking made.

London Wildlife Trust

London Wildlife Trust is the only charity dedicated solely to protecting the capital's wildlife and wild spaces, engaging London's diverse communities through access to our nature reserves, campaigning, volunteering and education.

Plan Zheroes

One million tonnes of food is thrown away by the UK hospitality and food service sector each year. At the same time, over 8 million people in the UK suffer from food insecurity. It’s a crazy situation but here is one solution: Plan Zheroes inspires businesses to donate their surplus food to local charities, instead of sending it to landfill.

By supporting Plan Zheroes you are supporting over 400 charities across the UK that benefit from food donations.

Switchboard LGBT+ Helpline

Switchboard is one of the UK’s longest-running, volunteer-led charities serving the LGBT+ communities. As a national helpline, they serve on average 17,000 callers a year across phone, instant messaging and email. However you need to reach them, you can, from 10 AM-10 PM every day.

We’ve been here since the first days of the AIDS crisis. And we’re still here now.

Blueprint for All

Blueprint for All works with young people and communities to create an inclusive society in which everyone, regardless of their race, ethnicity or background can thrive. Their programmes provide inspiration, opportunities and support to talented young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, enabling them to succeed.

Theye work with innovative organisations and businesses to address disparity of opportunity, so everyone’s talents, skills and perspectives are valued. And we empower communities across the UK to tackle disadvantage and discrimination for long term, sustainable change.

"We don’t just believe in a fair and equitable future, we’re making it happen.”

James’ Place mission is to stop men dying by suicide. They believe death by suicide is preventable. Yet, in the UK in 2018, 6,507 people died by suicide of which three-quarters were men. Suicide is still the single leading cause of death of men under 50. At James’ Place, they want to make sure that help is available for every man facing a suicidal crisis and support them to find hope for the future. They work with health partners to deliver a service to men whose needs have not been met by traditional services.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this.

Tommy’s is an organisation of caring and committed people who refuse to accept that losing a baby in pregnancy is ‘just one of those things'. Right now, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, stillbirth or premature birth. Across the UK our dedicated researchers, doctors and midwives are finding causes and treatments to save lives. Tommy's also provide free trusted information and support for everyone before, during and after pregnancy. They are supported by our community. Together, we work to break the silence around loss, support each other and prevent future heartbreak.

Spread A Smile

Spread a Smile brings joy and laughter to seriously ill children and teenagers during long hospital stays. Their teams of entertainers including fairies, musicians, magicians, artists, spontaneous poets, and therapy dogs visit children at their bedsides, distracting from pain and treatment, breaking the monotony of the hospital environment and creating positive memories for them, their parents and siblings. Spread A Smile’s support extends even further and includes the painting of children’s radiotherapy masks, family/sibling support and organising regular family outings and events.

Services are available to all children and teenagers under the care of our NHS hospital partners.

CoppaFeel! is a breast cancer awareness charity, based in London. The charity focuses on promoting early detection of breast cancer by encouraging women under 30 to regularly check their breasts.

Maggie’s offers the best possible support free to anyone with cancer and their families who walk through their doors. You'll find their centres alongside NHS hospitals and they also provide support online too. Maggie’s help people take back control when cancer turns life upside down, with professional support for anything from treatment side effects to money worries. All their support is free and you don't need an appointment or referral – just go into a centre.
