The Langham, Melbourne Aria Bar & Lounge Launches New Cocktail Menu with Drinks Inspired by the City’s Favourite Places and Neighbourhoods

March 2019…. The Langham, Melbourne’s Aria Bar & Lounge has launched a new collection of contemporary cocktails.

Is this Melbourne’s prettiest autumn cocktail?

Pictured above is Aria Bar & Lounge’s favourite of the bunch. Named after its inspiration, the Royal Botanic Gardens is a modern twist on the traditional gin and tonic and features Anther gin, St Germain Elderflower liqueur, crème de Violette liqueur, homemade lemongrass syrup and a dash of cloudy apple juice. It arrives with an edible violet and whipped egg white.

Aria Bar and Lounge’s take on a Bloody Mary results in a cocktail inspired by Melbourne’s Little Italy. Dubbed Lygon Street, the cocktail includes grappa, Dom Benedictine liqueur, carrot juice, tomato juice, XPA, Italian herbs, Worchestershire sauce and comes adorned with a bucatini pasta straw and mini pizza!

The Port Melbourne cocktail is a heady mix of 10 years old Hellyers Road whisky, white truffled bitters and leatherwood honey.

Fans of The Langham, Melbourne’s signature cocktail, the Pink Taxi, will be happy to know that it remains on the bar’s new list. Its popular take on a Cosmopolitan that showcases Absolut vodka, Chambord. Jo Catron caramel, pineapple and cranberry juice continues to be in demand.

Ten other cocktails join the new menu from a jet-lag cure concoction called Essendon Airport that includes Woodfood Reserve Bourbon, Cynar, Aperol, fresh lemon juice and single origin cold drip coffee to an adaptation of a Tom Collins (named Collins Street) that features Alchemy gin, lychee liqueur, freshly squeezed lime juice and yuzu soda.

All of Aria Bar & Lounge’s new cocktails are priced between $22.00 and $24.00.
“It’s not surprising to learn that our team had a ball trialling many of Victoria’s best spirits and experimenting with homemade sodas and syrups. In my opinion, two of the most intriguing ingredients that appear on the menu are sustainable orange shrub and fig bitters. The end result is a collection of 14 cocktails that are inspired by our team’s favourite places in Melbourne. From Brighton to Williamstown and everywhere in between, we hope that our guests enjoy these innovative drinks as much as we have enjoyed creating them,” added Anthony Ross, The Langham, Melbourne’s Director of Food and Beverage.
