The langham, melbourne joins the Indian independence day festivities with authentic Indian dishes served at Melba restaurant
July 2017… Bharat mata ki jai! (Hail Mother India!) As the chant echoes the ceremonies in India to celebrate its 71st Independence Day, a sumptuous feast will be served at Melba Restaurant on Tuesday August 15th to join the festivities. This one-night only event will feature authentic Indian cuisine that will surely arouse nationalism and enthuse appetite among diners.
As part of the celebrations, Melba’s acclaimed Executive Chef Deepak Mishra and his team are preparing a festive South Asian banquet fit for the occasion. The dinner buffet will feature perennial Indian favourites such as Chicken tikka masala, Bhuna gosht goat curry and Kerala prawn curry cooked in Indian coastal spices and finished with coconut milk.
No spice will be spared as the spread also includes Malai kofta infused with creamy cashew nut gravy, Dal Maharani with secret spices and Kachi gosht ki biryani cooked with whole spices and saffron.
The Tandoori oven is set to have a busy night cooking up Malai chicken kebab marinated with special spices, cream and cheddar, Saffron paneer tikka with cottage cheese, marinated whole leg of lamb and Gilafi seekh served with assorted sweet peppers.
Plus there will be a pop-up Dosa station that will serve Indian crepe with a choice of savoury filling, Samosas with curried vegetables and potato and hot naan bread served plain or with assortment of vegetarian and meat filling.

Indian dessert lovers are also up for a treat with a variety of South Asian sweets with a modern twist such as Gulab jamun cheese cake with a hint of rose, Indian alphonso mango mousse and pistachio crumble and warm carrot and milk pudding with cardamom scented sweet cheese nibbles.
The Indian Independence Day dinner buffet is available on Tuesday 15 August from 6pm until 11pm. Adults dine for $89.00 per person while children aged 4-12 dine for half price and children 3 and under dine for free. Dinner at Melba restaurant includes entree, main course, live cooking stations and an unlimited dessert and cheese station.
