CELEBRATING 160 YEARS
This year, The Langham, London celebrates 160 years as Europe’s original grand hotel with a series of experiences that pay tribute to its Victorian-era origins in thoughtful, modern ways.
At the centre of the anniversary is the pink rose— both a symbol of British heritage and quiet elegance and central to The Langham brand. Lobby flower displays will be elevated with stunning pink rose arrangements, creating a captivating welcome that echoes The Langham’s historic elegance in full bloom.
From limited-edition dining and collaborative moments to elevated guest experiences, the hotel’s celebrations are designed to honour its history while continuing to innovate.
Marking 160 years is not just about looking back—it’s about reflecting on what has always set The Langham apart: a commitment to style, service, and staying power.

Commemorative Afternoon Tea
As the hotel that first introduced Afternoon Tea to London society, The Langham celebrates with a commemorative service that brings together sweet and savoury favourites from the 19th and 20th centuries—modernised with seasonal ingredients and refined presentation.
In a tribute to the year of the hotel’s founding, 160 lucky guests randomly selected over the first 16 days will be offered afternoon tea at a special price of £18.65 to enjoy the experience at this celebratory rate.
Anniversary Lobster Roll
To mark the occasion, The Wigmore introduces a celebratory, limited-edition Lobster Roll that offers a luxurious nod to a once-humble ingredient. In Victorian Britain, lobster was known as the “poor man’s protein” before evolving into a sought-after delicacy. This special edition roll celebrates that transformation—served warm in a soft, buttery bun and wrapped in custom-designed newspaper inspired by 1860s publications.

The 'Purple Velvet' Cocktail
Artesian, The Langham’s award-winning cocktail bar, raises a glass to 160 years with the Purple Velvet—a bold reimagining of a Victorian-era favourite. This limited-edition serve combines London Dry Gin, lemon juice, violet liqueur, and sugar syrup, topped with Champagne and finished with stout caviar—a nod to the popularity of stouts and porters across 19th-century British society.
1865 "Taittinger Time"
Each evening at 18:65 (7:05pm)—a playful nod to the hotel’s founding year of 1865—guests will gather in the grandeur of the Palm Court lobby for “Taittinger Time”, an exclusive Champagne moment inspired by the spirit of Victorian celebration, reimagined for today.
In The Langham Club Lounge, guests will also enjoy a specially created Langham Anniversary Punch, served during the same half-hour window. Together, these timed tributes honour The Langham’s heritage while offering today’s guests a taste of Victorian elegance in a relaxed and convivial setting.
